1 Appearance It occurs as a white or pale yellow, wax-like mass, plates, flakes or granules.

(A) Examine the chromatograms.
3 Solubility It is practically insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol (96%) and in light petroleum. When melted, it is miscible with fatty oils, with liquid paraffin and with melted wool fat.
4 Appearance of Solution The solution is clear and not more intensely colored than reference solution B6.
5 Melting point Between 49°C to 56°C.
6 Acid Value Not more than 1.0.
7 Hydroxyl Value Between 208 to 228.
8 Iodine Value Not more than 2.0.
9 Saponification Value Not more than 2.0.
10 Assay
(A) Stearyl alcohol
(B) sum of stearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol
(A) Not less than 40.0%.
(B) Not less than 90.0%.

PACKAGING

MOLHOL® CETO is packed in HDPE drum or HDPE bag with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
